IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!!

We need to make you aware that one of the Marine Science Technologies, Inc founders, Douglas Brogdon, is no longer with the company for a variety of reasons.

Unfortunately Mr. Brogdon is pursing his own interests at the expense of our customers. We have installers who have told us about (and even physically brought to us) counterfeit mstGuardian flushing systems. Tragically some individuals assumed that they were dealing with Marine Science Technologies, Inc and were unaware of the substitution. Regrettably, IF THE SYSTEM DID NOT ORIGINATE FROM AND WAS NOT ORIGINALLY SOLD BY MARINE SCIENCE TECHNOLOGIES, INC THEN THERE IS NO MST WARRANTY.

While Mr. Brogdon’s name is on the patents, they were invented while he was an employee and long ago he assigned all his rights to the company, and any “new and improved” version still belongs to MST. Anyone questioning this can easily be shown the assignment papers. The US patent office is finsihing the paperwork to officially assign the patents to the company.

Please be aware:  any system that operates in a manner similar to ours, or is connected to the engine in a manner similar to ours, is in violation of US Patent law and it is our intention to vigorously pursue all legal remedies against those who violate those rights.

  August 05 Update:

August 2005 - It has been a long and trying year since we discovered the shenanigans of one of our partners. Your understanding through this trying period of life has been gratifying.  But after more than 5 years of effort keeping the company going, (without a salary) (and a considerable $ investment), I have decided it is time to draw the line.

After a lot of soul searching, I have concluded I am no longer willing to continue to operate the company as it is organized, or with Doug Brogdon as even an inactive stockholder. I ran the company alone long enough to pay all our obligations to our suppliers. The police and Florida State Attorney have been notified of the previous improprieties, and that I wish to file charges. (Incidentally, it has been determined that the company owns the patents outright and they are being reissued in MST’s name.)
We have notified the appropriate attorneys, and the bank, of the decision. All the company assets secured the bank loan, and now that we have ceased operations, the bank will determine the appropriate resolution.

If you need “Injector valves” or 3/8-inch hose barb 1/2 NPT (national pipe thread) with a check valve inserted in it, Part #751 or #3A1238G for the straight Hose barb, or Part #752 or #3EL1238G for the 90-degree hose barb, the bad news is that they are not available at this time. The good news is that you can go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy a similar part (in plastic or brass) (without the check valve of course) and it will work almost as well. I would recommend increasing the flush time to 5 minutes.

I have been asked by numerous dealers and individuals to somehow reopen the company and we may be able do that on a different basis. If you wish to be contacted when we do, fax a message to 850-914-6579 (or email to jdarrah@mstguardian.com) is the best way to communicate since I can respond outside normal business hours. (The web site was shutdown without our knowledge by someone claiming to be an individual with the authority so the email links are just being reopened now)

I am sorry it has come to this.  It certainly wasn’t in my game plan as I bought into the company years ago. It has been an expensive lesson to say the least. Wish I had it to do over, knowing what I do now. I hope to maintain the web site and put periodic updates on it.

Remember that old joke “Do you know how to make a small fortune in the marine industry? ---Start with a large one.”   That is no longer funny in our household.

In the meantime – you have my personal appreciation for your consideration and support, as well as my apologies for not being able to continue to serve you.

INCIDENTLY I KNOW THAT THE WEB SITE NEEDS MANY CORRECTIONS -
AND TO DRAMATICALLY REDUCE COSTS WE HAVE ELIMINATED SOME SECTIONS.

Update, September Progress:

September 2, 2004 - It is with a great deal of pleasure that I inform you that the first court case was a slam dunk ruling against the former dealer who had installed counterfeit systems on a customers boat. They were required to pay for the removal, to reimburse the customer, and to pay court costs as well. Sometimes there is justice, even if it seems to move slowly.

Update, October News:

October 1, 2004 - Well we survived 4 hurricanes in 5 weeks - Bonnie (a miss), Charley (a miss), Francis (a near miss), and Ivan (a very near miss), and are still getting the place back in order.

In the meantime we are shipping product. If you think you know what you want send me an email (jdarrah@mstguardian.com) or better yet check the purchase Button to the left, or go to the   price sheet & order form which you can complete and fax to us for a secure method of ordering any time of day or night.  (Yes, we will get the on line shopping cart back up as soon as we can.)

In the Fall of 1992 a group of hardcore boaters, racers, and fishermen came together to seek an answer to a problem that plagued them all.  An easy and effective way to flush their marine engines.

After years of inconvenient, dangerous and costly breakdowns they asked: "Is is possible to create a marine engine flushing and corrosion control system that will be easy to use, effective, environmentally friendly, and reduce or eliminate the damaging corrosive effects of Ocean water on marine engines? "

Additionally the wish list included:

bullet Is it possible to do so without running a noisy, unmuffled engine?
bullet Can it be done with the boat in the water?
bullet Can generators and Air Conditioners be flushed as well?
bullet Can a fully automatic system be made affordably?

After 8 years of research , we proudly present the MST Guardian Product Line.  MST Products are the "state of the art" in Marine Engine Flushing and Corrosion Control systems, Worldwide.  They have been tested and evaluated by dozens of "experts" around the world.  The Video link contains several very informative videos well worth watching.

OUR MISSIONOUR MISSION

To provide boaters everywhere with an affordable,  convenient, and environmentally friendly way to flush damaging salt water and build up out of expensive marine engines.  To extend marine engine life cycles and to reduce maintenance costs, as well as breakdowns.  To make boat ownership and boating more fun and less work, through advanced technology.

Company ProfileCompany Profile

Before the development of the Guardian system, boaters had either a noisy, inconvenient and ineffective way of flushing saltwater out of their engines, or no way to do so at all.  Since corrosion damage accounts for 70 percent of all marine engine failures and damage in ocean operated vessels, it is of major concern.

The Guardian  “smart technology" metering and control systems made from a fail safe, robust design is the only device on the market providing an easy, effective and convenient method of purging damaging saltwater from marine engines, whether in, or out of the water. MST Guardian technologies enjoy a proprietary position and are fully patent protected in the United States and 106 Countries abroad.

Besides being the easiest and most convenient method to flush any marine engine, the savings to a typical customer will vary from doubling, or tripling, the life span of the corrosion affected engine components to saving the entire engine from complete destruction from saltwater incursion through a corroded part. Maintenance expense savings for a typical inboard-out drive will vary from a low of $1,500 to a high of $15,000. With a MST DX unit installed and used, the Cost of Ownership Study recently completed for the U.S. Navy has shown total ownership costs for a Caterpillar 3126 marine engine are reduced by an astounding $35,000 in the first 2000 hours of operation.

I’ve sold over 250 units. And out of those, I have exactly zero unhappy customers. Some of them are going on six years now and have yet to do their first corrosion-based maintenance or repair since then. I think that speaks for itself.

Captain Les Hall, Sea Tow International

Safety is a major issue with us and overheating is a significant problem. When you are 30 or 40 miles off shore, it's very difficult to find a mechanic.  The Guardian is the only system I felt comfortable putting on my own boat.

Glen Connelly: Retired Air Force Fighter Pilot

I saw an article (about the MST Guardian) and said, "I've got to have one of those!  It was my son’s job to wade out in the canal to put earmuffs on the motor, and he would tell me crabs were biting his toes. It was a mess trying to do that every time we came in. So, I saw this thing and thought this looks like a great idea! It has really saved a lot of time and effort on our part.  I can just hook it up and leave the water running, and not have to worry about it.  Of course, when you're running an engine, you're going to have to sit there and wait for it.  It's very inconvenient with the old system, especially when I keep the boat in the water as much as I do.  This is a 1991, 225 HP engine with 600 hours, and I put the MST Guardian on in ‘93. I've never had any problems with the engine since I put on the MST Guardian.  As far as MST Guardian is concerned, I'd buy one again in a heartbeat for my next motor whether or not I kept it in or out of the water. The convenience of not having to run the engine and all that would be enough for me.  I'd highly recommend it for anyone. I'm very happy to support MST Guardian.

Why I Use a MST Guardian System, By John Wiesgerber

Hi, my name is John Wiesgerber from Tampa, Florida. Last year , after four years of running my boat with no problems, I decided to do some preventive maintenance by removing and replacing the elbows and risers from my engine's exhaust system as specified in the engine maintenance manual. I took my boat to the dealer I'd used for years. Later that day I received a phone call from the head mechanic. He asked, "Why do you want to replace the elbows and risers? They are like new." I was totally amazed. Then I remembered I was using a MST Guardian unit that I had purchased four years earlier to clean my engine as recommended by the company. I was so amazed and happy that I called the company to let them know what had happened to me, and to let them know how happy I was that I was using a MST Guardian unit. Besides, they had just saved me over  $1500 in parts and labor. Thanks to MST Guardian, my exhaust system is still running strong with many years of usage still ahead. Economic impact? You bet! I've saved over $1500 with my purchase of a MST Guardian engine cleaning system, by not having to replace my exhaust system parts. As a matter of fact, it looks like I might even double the life of the elbows and risers.  Thanks MST Guardian!
